Laboratory Syllabus (Fall 2025)

Labs start on Tuesday, August 26, 2025
Lab A: TR 9:30 - 10:55 AM
Lab B: TR 12:30 - 1:55 PM
Each student must purchase, and bring to lab, a permanent marker and lab safety goggles by September 2
Lab Manual: de Ondarza, J. Laboratory Investigations in Microbiology (on-line).
Optional: A Photographic Atlas for the Microbiology Laboratory, by Leboffe & Pierce, Morton Publishers.
All readings should be done prior to lab.

Lab grading:

Laboratory notebook = 50 points
Lab skills test (Aseptic technique, quadrant streak, pure culture, microscopy, Gram stain, pipetting) = 40 points
Unknown ID = 50 points
Lab Exam/Practicum (online) = 35 points
TOTAL = 175 points (25% of course total)
MINUS 5 points for each absence beyond maximum allowed (3)
