What you should know:

Beggiatoa are Gram-negative filamentous bacteria usually found in aquatic habitats. They have a form of gliding motility to move to regions with sufficient oxygen and H2S. Their metabolism is chemolithotrophic, using H2S in sulfide-rich water.
