Shigellosis

Introduction. 

Shigellosis is a type of gastroenteritis caused by 4 different species of Shigella, including Shigella sonnei (US), S. flexneri (developing countries), and S. dysenteriae (epidemics). It produces at-times bloody diarrhea and is most common in children.
