ChancroidHaemophilus ducreyi

Introduction. 

Chancroid is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Haemophilus ducreyi. It is most commonly seen in males (female infections are generally asymptomatic). An ulcerative painful lesion in the genital area and lymph gland swelling result.

Haemophilus is a Gram-negative fastidious rod-shaped bacterium.
