Urinary Tract Infection

Introduction.

Urinary tract infections (UTI) are caused by a wide range of bacteria or other microbes, including viruses and protozoa.  Infection is usually from endogenous sources and due to poor hygiene (i.e. improper wiping techniques). UTIs can also result from exogenous sources, most commonly as STDs. In this case, these are referred to as urethritis.
