Bacteroides

What you should know:

Bacteroides are Gram-negative anaerobic rods commonly found in the mouth & intestine of animals. They are extremely abundant in the rumen of the diary cow. Not surprisingly, their metabolism is primarily chemoheterotrophic / fermentative.
