Spirochaeta  

 

What you should know:

The Spirochateta  are Gram-negative free-living spiral bacteria that feature the same kind of axial filaments found in Treponema and Borrelia. Unlike its relatives, though, Spirochaeta are non-pathogenic. Spirochaetes can be found in fresh water habitats and extremely hot sulfurous environments.
